When it comes to reaching out to the needy or creating programs to
better the lives of everybody, non-government organizations (NGOs) and
religious institutions are often known to initiate and pursue such good deeds. And
rarely do companies go for such programs or get noticed for doing such good
deeds. Yet know that companies are also actively participating in some outreach
programs or what they call Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
One company that does not fall short of having its share of CSR is
Property Company of Friends Inc (PRO-FRIENDS).
It has established three categories of CSR: PRO-CARE, PRO-EDUCATION, and
PRO-TEAM.
PRO-CARE is about the
continuous engagement with homeowners through community-related activities in
order to harness its relationship with its homeowners and at the same time,
make way in producing responsible citizens in the community.
Sample of CSR programs launched under PRO-CARE were the Emergency
Preparedness Symposium, Blood Donation Drive, and Habitat Youth Build.
Pro Friends sponsored a symposium on the importance of being prepared
in times of emergency (fire and earthquare) at the Montefaro Village Clubhouse.
The Homeowners Association officers of Montefaro Village and the nearby
projects’ own Homeowners Association officers were present. The same symposium
was also held at Carmona Estates.
ProFriends also held a blood drive wherein employees participated and 45
blood bags were produced. Over a hundred patients in need of transfusion will
benefit from it.
Profriends participatd in the 2013 Habitat Youth Build wherein PCFI
volunteers and 2,000 youth volunteers build over a hundred houses in Tanza,
Navotas for families affected by the recent typhoon and monsoon rains.
PRO-EDUCATION is about the value
of education manifested through the establishment of Profriends’ very own
school, the St. Edward Integrated School. But it does not stop there.
PRO-FRIENDS continues reaching out where education needs to be present,
whenever the opportunity comes.
Some of the CSR programs launched under PRO-EDUCATION were the
participation in 2012 Brigada Eskwela and donation of e-learning facilities to
3 public schools (partnered with Knowledge Channel).
Partnering with the Department of Education, the teachers, and local
officials in rehabilitating Pal-Agon Elementary School in Pavia, Iloilo, PCFI participated
in re-building the school’s stage and repainting classrooms, aside from
donating two more classrooms in partnership with the 1Meal Program. PCFI volunteers also brought reference books
for their library, and materials for the school clinic. Company volunteers also
held a story-telling session and led the planting of vegetable seedlings in the
school garden to promote a healthy and nutritious diet for the students and
their parents who also joined the activity.
Partnering with Knowledge Channel, PCFI also donated e-learning
facilities such as Netbook preloaded with K-Channel educational videos, 32” LCD
TV, optical mouse, external speakers, and automatic voltage regulator (AVR) to
three public schools – Alapan-I Elementary School in Imus, Nueva Victoria
Elementary School in Mexico, and Bolilao Elementary School in Dumangas.
PRO-TEAM is one of the core
values of the company. PCFI steers its organization to work in harmony and with
a common goal.
Apart from the usual seminars, PCFI also allowed its in-house agents
some fun under the sun through the 2011 summer outing at Punta Fuego in
Nasugbu, Batangas. Food, games, prizes, and lots of bonding time were enjoyed
by everyone who participated.
